Terry Stanley Fox, the Canadian icon, athlete, and hero, was also a humanitarian and activist of cancer research. His one leg was amputated because of Cancer. In 1980, he began to cross- Canada runs from east to west with his one leg and the other an artificial one. The run was to raise money and make people aware of cancer research. His quest came to an end after 143 days and 5373 kms, ultimately resulting in Terry Fox Cause of Death.

What was Terry Fox Cause of Death?
Terry Fox’s cause of death was due to his battle against osteosarcoma cancer. His life span was from July 28, 1958, to June 28, 1981. While driving his family home on November 12, 1976, Terry was distracted by constructing a bridge nearby at Morrill Street, Port Coquitlam. His distraction resulted in a crash to the back of a pick-up truck.
After struggling with pain, he was finally diagnosed with osteosarcoma by March 1977. It was not a connection to his accident. Later his leg was amputated and also required chemotherapy treatment. With his artificial leg, he struggled to work and raise money to sware people of Cancer.
On April 12, 1980, the Port Coquitlam native dipped his artificial leg in the Atlantic Ocean, intending to run across Canada and finish it at the Pacific Ocean, Victoria, B.C. However, he could not complete the run and was forced to abandon due to pneumonia caused due to Cancer. It began to spread in other parts of his body, leading to a coma. He then ended his life at Royal Columbian Hospital, New Westminster. The young Canadian icon ended his life at the age of 22.
